Maths Reflection

This year for maths I am  in the Fozzies. I think I have really improved in everything. My teacher for maths this year was Mrs Taaffe. One reason I think I have made a improvement is because of my AWS and IXL. AWS is a book filled with maths worksheets with basic facts and other activities. I definitely have improved on drawing 3D shapes because I never really knew how to draw cubes. We have also been working on tessellations and they are confusing but fun at the same time. I have sort of mastered Roman numerals but there are some I still have trouble with. Next year I want to know all my roman numerals off by heart. This is kind off like the tessellations we did except we had different shapes and had to turn them to fit without leaving any spaces.

High Jump

This Monday Ngatea school is going to participate in Athletics. On the day you have to do High Jump. We practiced with the wood and elastic.  I caught my foot on the pole so I didn't quite land it right. Before the day I want to work on my jump and getting over the bar at Athletics. Down below will be a video of me doing High jump.  Hope you enjoy :)

Labour Day

How it began:
Samuel Parnell’s Stand
On arrival in New Zealand, Samuel Parnell was asked to build a store for shipping agent George Hunter. Parnell who, while living and working in London, had been exposed to the prevailing international concern with worker’s rights, agreed to do so, but only on the condition that he not work more than eight hours a day. Though his employer protested, the shortage of skilled tradesmen in the new colony allowed Parnell to make good on his demand.Parnell organised other carpenters in the town and in October 1840 a workers’ meeting on Lambton Quay resolved a motion to adopt an eight hour working day (any worker who dissented was to be ducked in the harbour!).
Labour Day commemorates the struggle for an eight-hour working day. New
Zealand workers were among the first in the world to claim this right when, in 1840, the carpenter Samuel Parnell won an eight-hour day in Wellington. Labour Day was first celebrated in New Zealand on 28 October 1890, when several thousand trade  members and supporters attended parades in the main city centres. Government employees were given the day off to attend the parades and many businesses closed for at least part of the day.  It is also to honor all those who work hard each week day.

My holiday

My first weekend of the holiday

Dad waterblasting the digger

Digger
Imagine this on the first Friday off the school holiday waking up at 6:30 am. Shocking isn’t it supposed to be a holiday, but that day I went to work with my Dad. We went to Duder an Auckland regional park. My Dad is a contractor so he sometimes he will do  jobs at the parks. We went there and Dad had to talk to the man to ask how he wanted him and Poppy to lift up the shipping container.

While Dad went and got the digger he got me to stand by the gate and open it for Poppy. Just my luck when it started to rain on the angle I was standing on.  When Poppy came Dad had just come with the digger. They lifted up the shipping container and put a couple blocks of wood under it. When we were done I got asked to shut the gate but the wind to it out of my hands and got a big dent in  Poppy’s ute. After that Dad, Poppy and I went and cleaned the Little digger (Hyundai 1.6 tonne) and the big digger (Hyundai 12 tonne). We sent about 15 minutes trying to get the water blaster going because Dad accidentally left the choke on.

But when it got going Dad let me water blast the tracks but while dad finished the rest off the diggers I got some photos and videos on my Gopro. After we washed both off the diggers we loaded them onto their own trailer’s. While Dad was loading the big digger onto the trailer I had some lunch. Then Poppy realized there was a big dent in his ute. This ute he got in July. He said it was ok but dad kept on joking around saying “It ain't new any more” then continuing to laugh. Dad and I jumped into the Truck and Poppy followed us behind in his ute with the little digger on the back.

We went to Wiri to get the sand for The Ambury Farm Day. We continued on our way to Mangere. We went to Ambury Park and dropped off the diggers and tipped off the sand.  We saw one of the workers running around and  his name is Gary. We left the Truck there and we hopped into Poppy’s ute. We went back to Duder and dropped Dad off at his ute. Poppy and I went to poppy’s house in Orere Point as I was staying at Aunty’s . He went over to the shed for a little bit while I did a coloring in competition.

Shirley got home and we ordered some hamburgers from the local shop and had some chips, onion rings and Pizza. I was filled after that.  Aunty finally got home at 8 oclock. Aunty works for Water Care in New market. The traffic is really bad so she gets home late. We went to Aunty’s house (next door)  and I had a glass of juice and a cheese and cracker. I had a shower and then  I went to bed. The next morning when I woke up I got a Up and go and turned on the Tv and sat there and slowly started to wake up. We made our way to Manukau City and to The Mall. We went shopping and I got some pairs of new jeans and a couple t-shirts and I can’t forget the Sushi.
We continued to shop then we went to Takanini Pak'nsave and got some food for dinner.

Aunty and I decided we should get a chocolate thick shake at Mcdonalds. We made our way back to Orere point.  We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. We had Sausages, Salad and mashed potatoes for dinner. I can’t forget dessert.  We just relaxed some more and then I had a shower and went to bed. The Next morning I woke up bright and early and got ready to go to the Farm day.  The Ambury farm day is a day to show the people of Auckland and places around there how farming works. There is also fun activities like making your own butter from cream and all these rides kinda like what you would go on at a Amp show. I went onto a big trampoline with harness and did a couple back flips.

Dad and Poppy let the Kids and some big ones too have a chance to go on their diggers and the lines are quite long because the hardly see anything like that let alone play on it and push some leavers. Ambury Park has a lot of history behind it as well. Ambury being nearby Māngere Mountain was once the site of a large fortified Māori pā and the area now known as Ambury Regional Park was used by Māori for gardening.

Māngere Mountain erupted approximately 18,000 years ago and the park sits atop a lava field made fertile by ash from the volcano. After the farm day is over Dad and Poppy took the diggers to Duder. Jayde went with Dad in the truck and Kaylah , Mum and I went in the car and got some real fruit ice cream and strawberries. Once we dropped off the digger we came home and had dinner and you can’t forget about watching the block.

Tiny stiches

What this day is we Skype or meet a person. Last year we met Mark Osborne this year we meet Andrew Cowie. He talked to us about Cyber Safety.  After that we went to our first Workshop. For this workshop I did tiny stitches. I made a minion finger puppet. It looks really cute and I love it. We had a break and we could go to the tuck shop and buy some food. Next I ran a workshop on Powtoon. Powtoon is a online editor and publisher tool. I taught year 2,3 and 4's how to create and use it. They published a poem.  We had a break then we went to our next workshop. Mine was Fabric Stitching. We made a brooch. Mine had a deer on it and it said "Hello My Deer". We had another break and then I ran another workshop on Powtoon. It was the same as the last one but I had different students. After that we packed up and went back to class. I got a Chocolate fish for tidying up other people's mess with sand. It was messy.

Princess Diana

Princess Diana                                  Image result for princess diana
Most people have heard of Princess Diana. She was married to Prince Charles from 1981–1999.She died in a tragic car accident. It has been 18 years since her death on Monday  and many people are still devastated. Princess Diana did a lot of charity work to help different countries. Her family consists of Charles Spencer, John Spencer, Jane fellowes, Baroness Fellowes and Lady Sarah Mccorquodale. Her wedding to Prince Charles was  on July 29 1981. 600,000 people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of Diana on her way to the ceremony.  Diana wore a dress valued at £9000, which is $21636.98 in New Zealand. Diana became Princess of Wales when she married  Prince Charles on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral.

Princess Diana has 2 children. Prince William and Prince Harry. She has 2 grandchildren Prince George and Princess Charlotte. From 1989 she was president of London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for children and did a lot of work for other charities. After the accident the media gave the subject a lot of attention. Diana was born on the 1 July 1961 in. Her relationship with Charles ended in divorce on 28 August 1996. Well you may wonder how Princess Diana Died. She was in a car accident with Dodi Fayed  in the Pont de l'Alma underpass in Paris.

Diana and Dodi were not wearing a seatbelt said by British and French police. The police also discovered that their chauffeur Henri Paul was under influence by alcohol. There was also a idea that paparazzi were following the couple. It is claimed that Dodi bought Diana an engagement ring just a few hours before the crash. There a is a rumor that princess Diana and Dodi were killed on purpose to stop her marriage to Dodi but the most shocking part was who apparently said it can you guess???? Well it was the Duke of Edinburgh otherwise known as Prince Phillip.

The Queen didn’t even speak publicly or fly the flag at half-mast over Buckingham Palace after the death. She was called “The people’s Princess” because she was the first royal in a very long time who had truly connected with the people she was engaged in countless charity actions and was also Praised by the people for her compassion and more. Her funeral took place on the 6 September 1997 at 9.08 a.m in London. The official ceremony was at Westminster abbey.

Two billion people traced this event worldwide making this one of the most watched events in history. More than one billion people stood on the streets to see her coffin and family walk past. During the service Elton john sang “Candle in the wind” which has been rewritten as a tribute to Diana. The original plan was for Diana to get buried in the Spencer vault at a church nearby Great Brington. But Lord Spencer was concerned about public safety and security.

He decided for Diana to be buried somewhere that her family could visit .The island is in an ornamental lake known as The Round Oval within Althorp Park's gardens. A path with thirty-six oak trees, marking each year of her life, leads to the Oval. Four black swans swim in the lake. In the water there are water lilies, which in addition to white roses as those were Diana's favorite flowers. On the southern verge of the Round Oval sits the Summerhouse, previously in the gardens of Admiralty House, London, and now adapted to serve as a memorial to Diana.  To me Princess Diana seems like a lovely person like Kate the duchess of Cambridge married to her son William. She was willing to help the world. She was amazing because not many people wished to but she did.
Rest in peace Diana

Quote
This week my blog post is about an inspirational quote. I chose this quote because it is telling me to be myself not someone else. I can act all normal but inside I'm different and unique. Each person has something different about themselves that's what make them their own individual self.

Book Club

Here is my post of the week. It is my Book club. I was illustrator so I have to draw a picture and describe why I drew it. I am reading the book Scarlet Ibis. It is a really cool book I'm really enjoying it. In this chapter all of Red's feathers got thrown  out of the container. The penguin came and checked on Scarlet and Red. The penguin is a social worker who comes and checks on them. Scarlet is acting like the mum kind of. Because she has been doing the groceries and looking after Red.

I chose this picture because towards the end of the book it was talking about how the Mom smokes.

Memory Block

This week I got to publish my memory block. My memory block is about Port Jackson and relaxing there in the summer. The bottom picture is my writing for my memory block . The words up the top are what I had to write my little stories about. The photo is really blurry so down the bottom is my actual piece.

Port Jackson
The twisty and  dusty road leading to Port Jackson… a long drive. I get bored so I fall asleep then Mum say’s “wake up!” there was a pod of dolphins! Slowly we crawl up the final hill then drop down. I can finally see Port Jackson! We go to the office to sign in but sadly I'm on the gate.I wait patiently for them to hurry up. Then we got to pick our campsite right next to the showers. We got a hill near our campsite so we kept on doing Front limbers. Then we were waiting to have a solar shower so I decided to attempt to do a front walkover and I landed it! Ever since then I've loved Port Jackson.
Biscuiting
The waves as they hit my bum AHHHHHH. I scream I was terrified! I went onto my stomach. When I fell I felt like a barrel rolling down a hill. I swam to shore. Jumping up and down. I hope for another turn but Dad had a headache so we stopped. But just before we stopped Maria Mum’s friend who we go camping with went on she fell but couldn't get back on. Mum and Dad puttering back in Maria holding onto the back of the biscuit.I yell “Where’s Maria ? “ and Dad said” look at the back”! I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt but swimming can fix everything. So we went swimming and got the snorkeling gear  amazing.
Camping
The wilderness, the fresh air, the sound of the waves crashing down on the sand below. I say to Jayde “race you to the beach”. Dad said not so fast come back here and put up the tent I reply “FINE!”.  I shall get payback ! I just stand there, I start getting in the way then Dad says “bugger off go to the beach”.Finally the nice cool water is swishing  all over my feet.
Boating
Some morning’s I wake up Dad has the boat ready “Put on your fishing gear” Dad said  Kaylah said “not again”. But the best thing about fishing  that day was Kaylah caught a kingfish. Unfortunately it was 10 cm too  small. Mum said we could go Biscuiting!!! Slowly after we lost some of our bait. The wind got a little bit choppy and the sea got rocky.Mum said it was too rough to go biscuiting. We were catching nothing so we decided to go back to the camp site.
Swimming
Each day we would go for a swim. The salt taste in my mouth I spit it out and run to the tent. The lovely water washing through my mouth.Thankfully I got that taste out of my mouth. But when I went back to the water a huge wave came.My finger’s going crazy as I catch the wave. That was awesome Kaylah yells. I am lost for words. I go and catch another one. It was night yes night it was 8.30pm at night and we went swimming? The best waves I've ever seen.

They 2nd game they won by a lot and on the  4th game we  lost by 1. We tried our hardest and had fun. That's all the matters. We didn't make it into the Semi finales but that's OK. Anzac

In the terrible time world war one was. Over  37 million people got sent to fight in the war. Nurses were also sent over to help the soldiers. On Christmas Day they stopped fighting to show some respect. Soldiers were sent mail but lots of it got put back in the mail sack.Around 16 million people got killed and 20 million got wounded. In New Zealand we have a day called Anzac Day. It is on the 25 April. The day of Anzac Day was picked from when the soldiers landed in Gillpoli. There is a parade that goes on Anzac Day and all The Soldiers that survived march but also there family members wore medals to remember them. This year is was 100 years since they landed in Gillipoli. I have made a mind Mup about the war so you can see that underneath this writing.
