Current Events:New Zealand Book Awards

Image result for the wish childA novel following 2 children living in Germany during the war has won the top fiction prize at the New Zealand Book Awards. Ngaruawahia based author Catherine Chidgey has been awarded $50 000 Acorn Foundation fictional prize for her novel. The Wish Child. It took Catherine 13 years to write. “The book took me a long, long time to write and changed a lot over that period, so I’m just so pleased and relieved that I stuck with it and made it the book that I want it to be, Catherine said.  Some of the other nominations were Billy Bird by Emma Neale, A Briefcase, Two Pies and a Penthouse Brannavan Gnanalingam and many more.
